Hi, I’m Brandon.

I’m a mechanical design engineer, and most of my work has been about making hardware hold up under real loads. In automotive, I designed suspension bushings, using FEA and test data to hit stiffness targets, and built the test fixtures to prove they’d last. In defense, I reverse-engineered hydraulic valves and manifolds for military ground vehicles and took new systems from CAD to working prototypes. In data centers, I’ve run structural analysis on the skids that carry GPUs, piping and power for large AI projects, and written software to speed up the reporting.

Robotics is where it started for me, though. As a kid I built Lego Mindstorms and Lynxmotion robots and hand-coded gait sequences to get bipeds and quadrupeds walking. When I graduated, robot control still wasn’t something I’d bet a career on, so I went into mechanical design. The recent progress in AI changed my mind. AI models have become a force multiplier for digital work, and I think robots will do the same for physical work. Neither the hardware nor the models are there yet, and that’s the part I want to help build.

Next, I’m looking for a role that spans design and controls: designing the mechanism and writing the software that moves it. The CartPole project on this site is my first step in that direction.
